So you want to know about Torrevieja ?

Look at the map opposite and you will see it is located in Southern Spain's Costa Blanca, in the province of Alicante. It is ideally situated close to two airports, Alicante and Murcia and is served by major motorways and roads.

Torrevieja has a protected Natural Park with two salt lakes, and 20 kms of coastline containing six large beaches - La Mata, Cabo Cervera, Los Locos, El Cura, Los Náufragos and Ferris - and about 20 coves with an abundance of cliffs. The climate is temperate continental, with temperate winters and mild summers with temperatures which range between 18 and 25 degrees for most of the year.

Torrevieja town itself is located on beautiful beaches and large international marinas and a fishing port, with good walks along the coast. It has a large town centre with great shops, restaurants and bars, and hosts the largest market in the area every Friday. The town has a good mix of Spanish and international residents and this can be seen during the many fiestas that are held in the town.

Torrevieja offers its residents and visitors a wide range of concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, conferences, choral recitals, and hosts the annual International Habaneras and Polyphonic Competition which is attended by performers from all over the world. These are held both in the open or in the towns many theatres and auditoriums. Popular music is also represented with recent concerts being played in the town by Shakira and REM amongst others.

Sports fans are spoiled my numerous golf courses, the closeness to Murcia and Elche Football Clubs who are both flying high in the Spanish Leagues along with FC Torrevieja Town currently in the 3rd Division. Many other sports such as handball. basketball and ice hockey are also represented.
